I am back home from my trip in Caro 1 to Oshkosh. I racked up another 40 h of flight time and 3152 nm / 5857 km. This time it included a visit to one of my customers in Idaho, so the initial part was along a different route. I used the opportunity to visit Lander / Hunt in Wyoming, at the southeast corner of the Wind River range.

In order to cross it I had to find a thermal to climb high enough, here briefly at 14,000 ft / 4270 m.

On the other side, I had to get rid of most of that nice altitude, because the airport is so close to the mountains and at an elevation of 5600 ft / 1700 m.

A nice surprise was that the local mechanic sold mogas from a barrel at his shop. I wish more airports would adopt that concept. Takeoff had to wait until the next morning and cooler air, because of the high density altitude.

This was it for the season with rain, next scheduled delivery: winter.

I found nice thermals on a flight in Caro, up to 5000 ft above sea level, but a lot less above the mountains, after the cold front blew through.

New snow was deposited on the higher mountains and the air was fresh and clear. After the hot weather, it seems like the seasons are out of sequence, but I don’t mind.
